History of Graphic Design

Opposite to the previous lecture in this we were introduced to the history of graphic design. Now we were told and I do agree that there is no set date in which we can say was the first time graphic design was introduced as the field is so vast it cannot be narrowed down to one single area, however, it is believed that mark making, writing and printing were the first form of graphic design which date back to more than 15000 BC

At first the styles were crude and were based on historical styles but eventually type became more systematic and clear as time progressed.

  

Meggs History of graphic design (1985) was the first to introduce us to the field.
