Seminar - The Poetics open work
We were asked to summarise the meaning in 'The poetics of Open Works' - Umberto Eco (1962). Taking it as a challenge I decided to find a way to summarise it in one sentence.
'The outcome depends on the recipe and the cook.'
This essay used music metaphorically which actually made it hard for me to understand what the author was saying first but as I re-read through it it slowly began to sync in that it speaks of creation and how it's expression can differ through perspective.
